ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEW "90210" TONIGHT?!?!

It's finally back. Eight years after the original series (which premiered in 1990) went off the air, a fresh new version of Beverly Hills, 90210 is about to begin, tonight, at 8/7 c on the CW network.

Why It Might Work:

1. Bringing back some of the original cast (Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty) and other familiar faces (Rob Estes of Melrose Place and Lori Loughlin of Full House) gives viewers of the original that warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling. It seems like everyone is super stoked to see Brenda (my favorite character) back on 90210 (I'm still bummed that I didn't get the Brenda doll).

2. It's refreshing to see a more ethnically diverse cast this time around.

3. Hit show Gossip Girl is on the same network, so 90210 may already have a built-in audience.

4. Rich, hot, troubled teens is a formula that rarely fails.

Why It Might Not Work:

1. My best friend refuses to watch the new 90210 because she believes that nothing will top the original. Many die-hard 90210 fans might feel the same.

2. The younger crowd, who this show is primarily geared towards, might not care about the original and thus not really care for this new version. With super popular Gossip Girl and other ritzy young adult dramas, it might be hard to keep their ADD'ed minds focused on a show their older sister (or mom) liked.

3. The moment may have passed. :( Which would make me officially old. (OMG, if they start showing 90210 on Nick at Nite, send me to the retirement home.)

Either way, I'm a sucker for premieres and am excited to see if this show is worth all the buzz and anticipation. Note: First episodes sometimes suck, so try watching a few episodes before making your final decision on the new 90210. Even though those who grew up watching the original know that nothing can truly replace this group:
