SOUNDS LIKE: LADY GAGA'S "BORN THIS WAY" & MADONNA'S "EXPRESS YOURSELF"

It was first brought to my attention while watching Access Hollywood that Lady Gaga has done it again!!! She has managed to create another song that sounds just someone else's song. Her new jam, "Born This Way," sounds like Madonna's "Express Yourself." Not a good move, in my opinion, since Gaga's been accused of stealing practically everything from Madonna.

YOKO ONO FOLLOWS ME ON TWITTER!!! (I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW.)

I decided to add Yoko Ono because she is simply a badass. In fact, I very much enjoyed being the Yoko to Ian's John this Halloween. Say what you want about her (she's not perfect), she didn't break up The Beatles, she loved John Lennon, she fights for peace, and she's an awesome, innovative artist in her own right. So imagine my shock and excitement when I got an email saying Yoko Ono is following me back. Granted, she may have one of those programs that automatically follows whoever is following you, but, on the other hand, with 1,097,718 followers, she's only following 462,180 (as of November 19). So yes, I'm stoked and honored. :)

CURRENTLY OBSESSED WITH THE 60S AND 70S

80s I love you. I truly do. But I think it's time to dabble artistically in the 60s and 70s, and appreciate the authenticity, experimentation, beauty, freedom and possibility these decades emanated. (Peace sign)

SOUNDS LIKE: LADY GAGA'S "ALEJANDRO" & ACE OF BASE'S "DON'T TURN AROUND"

Lady Gaga definitely has her "inspirations." In "Just Dance," she channels Christina Aguilera, and in "Summerboy," you'd swear it was Gwen Stefani singing. Her newest single, "Alejandro" also seems to borrow from a hitmaker...Ace of Base. The group had three number one hits in the 90s, including "Don't Turn Around," which has a very similar sound to "Alejandro." Hear for yourself!!!

SEEING DOUBLE: JERRY HALL AND L'WREN SCOTT

Former model Jerry Hall and designer L'Wren Scott may not look exactly alike, but they do prove the point that Mick Jagger definitely has a "type." Amazonian, ultra-feminine, with long, cascading hair is how Mick gets his "satisfaction."

SOUNDS LIKE: JAY SEAN'S "DO YOU REMEMBER" & CHRIS BROWN'S "FOREVER"

*"Sounds like" will to bring to light the vast number of songs that sound just like other songs. If it's an obvious sample, I won't usually write about it (WhoSampled.com is a great website to find out who sampled what). I will vent those songs that you rack your brain over thinking, "Where have I heard that before?"*

It seems like new singers are taking advantage of the fact that Chris Brown royally messed up and fell out of listeners' favor. Jay Sean not only sounds a lot like Brown, but his song, "Do You Remember" sounds like a copy of "Forever." Try not to sing the two songs together!!!

LADY GAGA ON THE JANUARY COVER OF "944" MAGAZINE

Lady Gaga for 944

Want people to pick up your magazine? Put Lady Gaga on the cover. I'm already a fan of "944," which I pick up whenever I find it around the city. January's gorgeous cover, however, is their best yet and definitely puts the mag on another level.

FERGIE SOUNDS MADONNA-ESQUE IN NEW BEP SONG

It took me a while to figure out that it was Fergie singing the new song, "Meet Me Halfway." She definitely changed her voice up a bit on this track, reminding me of early Madonna. Check out the song below, along with a couple of old-school Madonna jams, and hear for yourself.

Kourtney Kardashian and Amerie look very much alike!!! Aside from their long black hair and almost identical facial features, the reality star and the chanteuse also seem to have similar taste in fashion.

TONIGHT: "VH1 DIVAS"...WILL IT DELIVER???

divas-poster

I love divas. The voices, the glamour, the hair. The idea of having immense talents who sell out stadiums under one roof, on one stage, is a musical moment to say the least. From 1998 to 2004, VH1 Divas has featured superstars such as Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Cher, Celia Cruz, Elton John, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Mary J. Blige, and Gladys Knight. Celine, Aretha, Mariah and Carole King performed in the first show alone!!!

After a five year break, Divas is back, but with a slightly different approach. The show, which airs tonight, September 17 at 9/8c, will feature "a crop of new, young superstars," according to the Divas website. Performing are Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, and Leona Lewis. I know J. Hud will bring it like a true diva, but will the others live up to the diva name???

One can't help thinking that maybe VH1 couldn't get the big headliners to perform anymore, or that they are trying to play to the younger crowd with acts like Cyrus. I'm always one to look for what's fresh and new as much as what's legendary, so I hope it's a divas-in-training spectacular instead of a concert of singers who haven't really earned the title of d-i-v-a.
