The added bonus to subscribing to Harper's Bazaar is that you get a more artistic, less crowded cover that's unique from the one you see on the newsstands. I look forward to these every month. Magazines are caving to the economy and the pressure to sell, resulting in gaudy, loud, cluttered covers that seem chaotic and desperate.

What happened to Halle Berry on the May 2009 cover is even worse than the cluttering cover lines. The truly flawless actress and spokeswoman looked tired, washed out and old. This is not Halle Berry!!! You can imagine how relieved I was upon receiving the subscriber version of the magazine in the mail yesterday. Halle looked gorgeous, and the cover, photographed by Alexi Lubormirski, is nothing short of a work of art. It's the glamour and fantasy that we need and look for in an economic crisis. This issue is definitely going in my library!!!
