I am in the middle of a wonderful Christmas party with my good friends. We bond, we fight, we put up with each other...but in the end we all love each other very much. :) Since most, if not all, of us are big Beatles fans, and we are celebrating the holidays, Paul McCartney's cheesy yet cute Christmas tune is perfect for the occassion.
This week ended my corporate office career--I was laid off. I'm relieved because I didn't enjoy the work that much anymore. It paid well and was secure, but my heart is in my art. Now I am going to use my severance package to pay a few months of rent in advance and do what I really want to do. It's incredibly scary to try to survive on what makes you happy, to avoid being a starving artist (or ARTISTE in my case). You have to work twice as hard to make it a reality, but the rewards are yours. Not a corporate company's that makes millions of dollars a year, not to build up other people's dreams and goals, but your own. I've always been terrified of getting stuck with a "regular job" just because it pays the bills, and feeling that I never truly exhausted my chances at making it big with my talents. If you can do it, even if you think you can't, FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!!! "I'm free. I'm free. And freedom tastes of reality. I'm free. I'm free. And I'm waiting for you to follow me."
I had known that Dita Von Teese is a natural blonde, but I wasn't prepared for the night-to-day transformation that she apparently underwent. Beautiful as an 80s/mall rat/preppy-looking blonde named Heather Renee Sweet, she is now the super glamorous, sexy raven-haired Dita. I just wonder why she didn't use her real last name--Sweet sounds very pin-up-y!!!
Here's the video for Brit Brit's new song "Circus." Damn skippy--dance floors should be seen as center ring, center stage!!! "All eyes on me, in the center of the ring, just like a ciiircus."
I'm so stoked that the Giants have signed Colombiano Edgar Renteria to a two-year, $18.5 million contract!!! I was bummed that of all three South Americans on the team--Vizquel, Sandoval, and Ochoa (all from Venezuela)--none were from Colombia. Renteria is the first Colombian to play in the World Series, winning it for the Marlins in 1997!!! Now here's hoping that he has a great first season with the Giants!!!

Say what you want about UGGs, but they are super comfy and toasty. You also have to give the brand credit for constantly reinventing itself, with newer, fresher takes on the classic boot (I recently nabbed the crocheted ones.). These are the 30th anniversary (limited edition!!!) UGG boots--something new, but also a reminder of why they have been around for 30 years in the first place.
